At Ben Franklin, we’re all about finding ways to help out the environment in which we live. If you want to do your part to help Mother Earth, these three home DIY recipes for organic household products will not only keep your home nice and clean, but also rid it of toxic chemicals that are bad for the earth. The best part is that the majority of the ingredients are probably already hiding out in your pantry.
1. Grease Cleaner
To complete this home DIY recipe, gather up ½ cup of ammonia and mix it with water to fill a one-gallon container. When you’ve done this, use a sponge or a mop to wipe the solution over the surface you want to clean. Then, rinse the area with clean water to completely get rid of grease.
2. All Purpose and Drain Cleaner
Clean and disinfect a variety of different surfaces throughout your day, from counters to shower walls, by combining four tablespoons of baking soda with a quart of warm water. All you have to do to use this recipe is pour this solution onto a clean sponge and start wiping things down. You can even use this home DIY solution to clean drains; just add a few tablespoons of salt for enhanced results.
3. Glass Cleaner
Make your windows and mirrors sparkle by combining two cups of water, ½ cup of vinegar, ¼ cup of rubbing alcohol, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil into a spray bottle. To use this organic cleaner, spray its contents onto a cloth or paper towel and then wipe down the glass surface you want to clean. Avoid using this cleaner on extremely warm and sunny days, as it might cause the solution to dry too quickly and leave streaks on your glass surfaces.
